EarthQuaker Devices Plumes Review: The Overdrive That Makes a Good Amp Feel More Alive

I love the Plumes. It is the sort of pedal that makes me want to keep playing, and my verdict is simple: this little green box earns its place.

EarthQuaker Devices gives it three clipping modes and Level, Tone and Gain controls, so there is room to explore different amounts of drive and output without a complicated interface.

My only tiny critique is the lack of a 9V battery option. It does take a standard 9V DC, centre-negative power supply; it just cannot run from a battery inside the pedal. That distinction matters if you like grabbing a guitar and a pedal without finding another power lead.

Fewer disposable batteries sounds good to me. For the GX—the guitarist experience—I still miss the convenience of having that option. It is a small practical gripe with a pedal I otherwise love.
